Business Intelligence in QuickBooks? |
 |
If you are a user of QuickBooks Enterprise
Solutions 2008, you have a feature baked into
your software that you probably did not know even
existed!
If you click on Company in the menu bar, then Intuit
Business Connect, you will begin the process of
gaining additional insight into the profitability of your
business.
Using Business
Intelligence, powered by Business Objects,
you'll have the ability to:
- Use a Profit and Loss Dashboard
- Run a Profitability Dashboard
- Use a Sales Dashboard
Each of these dashboards gives you the ability to see
not only how the numbers look today, but how they
could look in the future doing some "what if" type of
analyses.
There is no extra cost to use this Business
Intelligence feature - you simply have to create an
account (or use an existing one if you use other
QuickBooks services), accept the terms of service,
and log in to access the features and benefits.
Have fun with this new and helpful tool in QuickBooks
Enterprise 2008!

Please be aware that if you are still using QuickBooks

partial
list of services that will no longer work as of this date:

- Much More...

Client Spotlight! |

Care for Others helps hard-working
Americans avoid
entering the cycle of poverty by providing financial
assistance in times of crisis. They provide hope to
working families and individuals who, through no fault
of their own, find themselves in need of temporary
help to get them through a difficult time.
Through the distribution of modest Helping Hands
Grants, funded exclusively through the generosity of
private citizens, Care for Others helps restore hard-
working people to self-sufficiency.
I met with Mary Mekota, the president of Care for
Others a few weeks ago to review and resolve her list
of QuickBooks questions and concerns.
We spent a couple of hours together in reviewing
how
she was currently using QuickBooks, and what she
was hoping to have QuickBooks do for her in the
future.
During our meeting time, I was able to help Mary get
much more comfortable with the operation of
QuickBooks and more insight on those areas of need
in her organization. Very simple, yet very successful.
A QuickBooks consulting projects doesn't need to
be long and involved. In many cases, a 2-3 hour
meeting provides just the right amount of insight to
help you gain the clarity you've been looking for in
QuickBooks!

What If Your Computer Crashed? |
 |
Protect your critical business data from loss
from
computer malfunction, virus infection, natural
disasters and all other potential problems.
Far better than using an external or flash
drive, the
Mozy online backup service not only automates the
process, but gets you a secure, offsite, version of your
data backup too!
Current statistics show that one in every ten hard
drives fail each year. The cost of recovering a
failed hard drive can exceed $7,500, and success is
never guaranteed. Do you want to be a statistic?

QuickBooks Tip of the Month |
 |
Q: Is there a way to get QuickBooks to load and
open a company file faster?
A: While I can't guarantee an improvement,
here are some tricks to try to get working in
QuickBooks faster:
- Upgrade to QuickBooks 2008 - my testing
and use
shows that it starts up faster than older versions
- Close All Windows - before you leave
QuickBooks
for the day, click Window in the menu bar, then Close
All
- Close Company File - instead of
just clicking the red "X" to close out of QuickBooks
completely, once you have closed all windows above,
then click File > Close Company/Logoff. Once you
open QuickBooks again, you'll see the "No Company
Open" window.
Just select the file you want to work on, and click Open!
