What the Heck is Undeposited Funds?

Well, it took a bit longer to complete than I thought it would, but my in-depth guide to understanding the Undeposited Funds account in QuickBooks is now complete and ready to help you figure things out once and for all. Titled "What the Heck is Undeposited Funds (and Why it is critical to your QuickBooks Success), it is available in PDF format for immediate purchase and download!

Look inside the covers of "What the Heck is Undeposited Funds" right now.

Questions about the Undeposited Funds account in QuickBooks are the #2 source of confusion whenever I teach it (the number #1 source of confusion is if/when you should upgrade the software).

Using the Undeposited Funds account correctly is a critical step in the proper usage of QuickBooks software. Understanding why the account exists and what is actually happening with it as you process customer payments and make bank deposits is a key learning component you should master.

"What the Heck is Undeposited Funds" provides in-depth commentary, many examples, and real world observations to help ensure you "get the hang" of what is going on with this account. Having this knowledge will shave countless hours off the time you spend reconciling your bank accounts in QuickBooks.

Crazy Man on a Bike - Update

Ok, let me just say this. I hate rain. I really do. Especially cold rain.

First and foremost, let me say a big THANK YOU to all of you who made a donation in support of my bicycle ride to raise funds and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis! On behalf of all the riders (by my estimate, nearly 2200 of us this year), and the entire MS Society, your kindness is appreciated.
    Now, on to the ride.

The 75 mile journey outbound on Saturday was one of the absolute best days I have ever ridden. With the temperature in the low 70s, a partly sunny sky, and a slight tailwind, it was one of those days you felt like you could ride forever. Met a lot of very nice riders during the trek, and made it to the destination earlier than I have in any of the previous 5 events. A great day indeed.

The 75 mile return trip on Sunday was one of the absolute worst days I have ever ridden. I got on the road at 6:45 am. The temperature at that time was about 54 degrees, and there was a steady rain coming down.

As we rode, the rain continued to fall harder. By the 10th mile or so, I was absolutely soaked. Dry clothes and a nice warm blanket would never feel so good (in the middle of August no less!).

When I got to the lunch stop after about 45 miles of solid rain and cold, the event coordinators told us that we were done, and that they were shutting down the remainder of the route due to riders suffering from hypothermia, poor visibility, road flooding, and more. They bussed everyone from this point to the finish line, and the 2007 event was now over.

This certainly isn't the way I envisioned the day ending, but am glad that all of us were safe. The day was a reminder that those we were riding for that are suffering from MS can't avoid bad days like we had on Sunday. They must face them each day. We could have simply opted not to ride and completely avoid the cold and rain.
Will there be a crazy man on a bike in 2008? Stay tuned!

    QuickBooks Tip of the Month

QuickBooks is well known for its' ability to simplify the bookkeeping tasks for many businesses. However, sometimes you simply need to have more insight and details about the exact accounting entry that QuickBooks has made when a transaction is recorded.

The keyboard shortcut CTRL + Y solves just that issue. When looking at any transaction within QuickBooks, just tap these 2 keys, and you will then see a screen that provides full details of all the debits and credits involved in the transaction.

Don't guess any longer - use CTRL + Y to get the insight you have been looking for in QuickBooks.

Can You Help Me With This?

I am often asked this question as it relates to using QuickBooks, helping businesses improve their profits, and resolving technology issues. To help answer that question easily, I have put together a menu of services and products that I offer.

Don't wait another day! Download it today and get the help YOUR business has been looking for.
