    QuickBooks 2008 is here!

It is that time again! The time to consider whether your business upgrades to the newest version of QuickBooks or if you keep plugging away with the version you have.

QuickBooks 2008 was recently released, and here is a quick recap of what you'll find under the hood of this new version:

    • If you work for an accounting firm, you will love the 2008 version. Your clients will be able to upload the copies of their QuickBooks files to a secure server, and allow you much easier access to them. In addition, QuickBooks 2008 has the capability to work not just with other 2008 versions, but most 2007 versions as well! There are other enhancements built in for you too!
    • If your business does (or is thinking about) billing for time and other services, QuickBooks 2008 offers some great new ways to simplify and streamline this process.
    • If you like to use Microsoft Outlook, you will be pleased at the improved integration of QuickBooks 2008, and the ability to e-mail documents directly through Outlook.
    • If you prefer to download your software, it is possible to do that immediately after the purchase of QuickBooks 2008 (this actually started with QuickBooks 2007). You can still opt for the CD version and have it shipped to you as well.
For all the details on the QuickBooks 2008 product suite, please visit the "What's New" page on the QuickBooks web site.

To save up to 20% (and get free shipping) on QuickBooks 2008 products, visit my web site.

In addition, if you are using QuickBooks 2005, your support on the product will end in 2008. If you are using anything older than QuickBooks 2004, your support has already ended. There is no question that if your business is using any of these older versions, it will greatly benefit from an upgrade to QuickBooks 2008.

Remember, the process of upgrading from your version of QuickBooks to QuickBooks 2008 is simple, so don't let that stop you from forging ahead with an upgrade.

QuickBooks 2008 - Where is the 5 User/Multi User Pack?

If your business has multiple staff members using QuickBooks, you need to be aware that the software is now being sold in single user and 3 user packages. The 5 user package is a thing of the past. Intuit research had shown that most businesses were in need of 3 licenses or less, so they have tailored their offerings to meet these needs.

This change impacts both the Pro and all versions of the Premier products (including all specialty editions - Contractor, Manufacturing, etc.) If you need more than 3 licenses, simply purchase the 3 user pack plus additional single user licenses.

REMEMBER - no matter what combination you purchase, with QuickBooks Pro and Premier, you can only have 5 people in the company data file at any one time. If you need more, contact me to learn about QuickBooks Enterprise, or get more details here.

    Client Spotlight

Brunner Health Care has been assisting clients with their medical equipment needs for well over 50 years. A business that prides itself on personal, knowledgeable service, insight, and support, Brunner Health Care has helped thousands of customers get the right medical equipment for their specific needs.

They had been contemplating a move from AccPac accounting software to another accounting package for a while. Like many businesses, they had concerns about the potential disruption to their business, the ability to adapt to new accounting software, and just how long it would take to complete such a move.

Working together, we were able to make a very seamless transition from AccPac into QuickBooks. We spent time talking through their goals and objectives, and carefully planned the project to ensure that Brunner Health Care got the most out of their QuickBooks investment. The transition project went very smoothly, and Brunner Health Care is now enjoying the many benefits of QuickBooks.

Julien Giancola, the president of Brunner Health Care, had this to say about working together:

"Scott is very organized, efficient, extremely competent and was very easy to work while updating our office programs. We experienced no down time while the new system was being updated and the training and initial set up was completed at our convenience.

After the updates were installed and put into use we have experienced a multitude of extra time that our office manager is now using to complete other beneficial duties for our company.

I would highly recommend Scott Gregory and his services in any capacity and I am very confident he would be a valuable asset for your organization."

    QuickBooks Tip of the Month

If you work with a business that you consider both a customer and a vendor, QuickBooks will not let you enter that business name the same way on both your customer and vendor lists.

Here is the fix for that problem - when entering them as a customer, enter the company name - customer in the top customer name box. When entering them as a vendor, enter the company name - vendor in the top vendor name box. For example, ABC Company - Customer and ABC Company - Vendor. Not only will QuickBooks now allow this same company to be added twice, you will instantly know which one you are working with!
